Double Trouble

February 22nd, 2010 -

Hello. It has been quiet of late at BetterTipster with just four bets since our last post (two of which were today).

The weather has again been terrible causing the loss of many meetings and too much heavy ground. As a result BetterTipster has had very little action, but we feel when conditions are against you, and results all over the place, it’s best to sit back and let other people lose their hard earned. A good example is Zaynor getting beaten at 1/14. Contrary to popular opinion we are in fact very keen on the Champion Hurdle this year!

So what has been happening at this tipster service? We advised a small bet on the all weather last Saturday, though unfortunately the horse didn’t come out of the stalls. The gates, opened but the jockey was looking in the other direction (there was probably something much more interesting happening) so that was money lost within 2 seconds.

However, we got it back with our only bet last week winning with little problems.

So that brings us to Monday. Our contact was at Wolverhampton and we received a good variety of information which results in two bets and two winners. Firstly we were informed of Call To Arms, who duly won by 15 lengths. The strongest bet of the day followed and a big gamble was landed on Granny Mcphee at Lingfield. We advised the horse at 13/8 and it returned even money. Evidently there was money down and the horse won cosily with the jockey never using his whip. Needless to say, a nice way to start the week.

We do have a new edition to BetterTipster. A greyhound pup was purchased last week; a 5 months old brindle bitch. The dog will be trained by Paula Timmins who is based in Coalville. The breeding is nice, a descendant of Collision and Deneview Jazz. Hopefully this will provide us with a bit of fun towards the end of the year.

Back to Normal

February 8th, 2010 -

Apologies for the lack of updates, we had a very difficult week on the betting front last week, something we have seen less than a handful of times since January 2009. In total we had 4 bets and 4 losers. We don’t hide the results and everything is made public hence this blog and our results page on the main website. The week started with a win bet and a double. There is no need for me to go in to the details of the race but we were gubbed on the line at 1.01. A serious jockey error cost us a good payout. The other part of the double won with ease. We then had two horses that broke down in running (what are the odds, excuse the pun) and another second. It was a tough week without doubt, and as mentioned before they don’t come along often, but that just shows you the strength of the service; we have a losing week and nearly hang ourselves.

Anyway, onto the good news: we were back to normal at the weekend with three bets resulting in 2 winners at prices of 7/2 and 6/5. The bet advised at 6/5 was our strongest of the year so far and won easily by 20 lengths.

With Cheltenham now on the horizon we shall be soon playing our hand in a few of the ante-post markets, something we consistently find value in.

Weekend Review, a good one at that!

January 24th, 2010 -

On Saturday we had our first account bets of the week. We certainly made up for a quiet week with four selections text to clients. However, we did land a 70/1 treble on Thursday with the three just info horses all winning at odds up to 7/1.

With so many selections in one day it’s always a bit of a worry as you really don’t want the lot to get turned over and this is something we try with all our efforts to prevent. So, how did members do? Well, we collected with three out of the four runners to make it a great weekend.

The day got off to a good start with Peddlers Cross winning by around 15 lengths on the bit. Saturday’s performance was very impressive with the horse jumping well and handling the heavy ground. The horse should be even better on a decent surface.

The second horse to run was a huge Irish gamble. We received a call earlier in the week about this one and were told very good things. This was a confident selection but the race was very hard with 30 runners and because of this we could not go big on the stakes. C’est Ca ran a great race to finish 3rd, beaten only a length. The jockey had to dodge and weave around many horses to gain a clear run so was a little unlucky. But the 10/1 3rd E/W was a profit made and very close to a large payout.

Then we had the only loser of the day where our selection was looking like the winner turning for home but stopped suddenly as if something was went wrong.

It did not take long though until we collected again with Vino Griego, landing a big gamble for us at 13/8. The horse was backed all day long into and sp of 4/6. There was never a moment’s worry as this quality horse hacked up.

So four bets yesterday and we collected with three of them. I’ll surely take that any day of the week.

We advised another bet today (Sunday); our notebook horse Premier Sagas winning nicely for us at 10/11.

This is the first time we have backed this horse despite being told to follow it at the start of the season. The horse has taken quite a while to come to hand and it was interesting to hear the trainer’s comments after the race saying that mentally he is still a big baby. The horse travelled beautifully during the race despite not jumping to his best. Approaching the last the horse was a couple of lengths down, but he soon made up the ground and won cosily going away to land the spoils.

This topped off a great week for BetterTipster with four of our five bets winning.

Heads you win tales you lose

January 18th, 2010 -

The width of a coin is literally the distant that two of our horses got beaten by this weekend.

We had late news on Friday for Cosy Tiger, a horse that was gambled on at a big price. We backed the horse E/W at 13/2 to fairly decent stakes, but the horse finished a clear second with the horse in first winning well despite the race being it’s first run. However, the each way money was returned for a profit on the race. We had already has an 11/4 winner from our only other bet of the week so things still appeared good.
On Saturday we backed Laharna  at 6/4 after being told the horse had been trained for the race. The ground was very heavy so only small stakes were advised. The result was a solid 2nd (see a pattern developing here?), beaten by less than a length. Just for good measures in what turned out to be quite a busy week we received news of a gamble at Wolverhampton yesterday. Unfortunately there is no need for me to tell you what happened as we got gubbed right on the line after trading at tiny odds. Unfortunately traffic problems cost us the payout.

So this week we have had 4 bets.

11/4 winner, 13/2 E/W 2nd, 6/4 2nd and finally 4/5 2nd. The last two beaten by no distance.

That’s horse racing for you. Sometimes the difference between having a very good week and winning literally is the width of a coin. At least it proves that all horses are trying and the information we provide is still 100% genuine and correct.

Brackloon warms us up!

January 13th, 2010 -

BetterTipster Members were back in action today with the strongest bet of the year so far. Advised at 11/4, the gamble was landed and it returned an SP of 2/1. Brackloon High was given a great ride by Richard Johnson and the horse travelled consistently well. As soon as the jockey let out an inch of the reign; the race was over.

It has been a very quiet time of late and no doubt frustrating for us all. When bets are sent out to members every box must be ticked and if there is any doubt then we simply don’t bet. BetterTipster is a subscription service where-by you pay for the info and we pass on the winners. I am afraid that consistently profitable results cannot be achieved if you just look at the frequency of bets.

We can supply the info, but what we can’t do as yet is control the weather. Betting on the all weather racing of late will lead to one thing only, and that is the poor house. Great efforts have been made by the likes of Kempton, Southwell and Lingfield to get racing on, without them there would simply be no racing in the UK. However, the level of racing is poor and results are unpredictable. All the tracks have been riding very deep and slow, unfortunately this throws all the best plans and form out the window. This service will not change, it is about being patient and waiting for the right info. We have proved this time and time again. If that means having less bets than normal over a couple of weeks, then so be it!

We have noticed on the Racing post website of late headlines of big market moves for Cheltenham horses. Well, it appears that the majority of these have come from other tipping services trying to keep clients happy. Backing now for Cheltenahm with horses desperate for runs is again something we will not do. No doubt this cold snap is causing difficulties for us all in different ways.

Below is an email we received today from one of our members:
Well done guys yet again you came up with the info. O.K you been a bit quite lately but I for one dont mind and anyone else who thinks otherwise is daft. You only give a tip if the information is good please please please dont change the way you guys work. There is no point in giving a tip if the info is weak. This way I know if you say back horse A” then I know it’s going to the track to give it’s all and I get a good run for my hard earned. Just like today another winner in the book. FIRST RATE SERVICE THE BEST I HAVE EVER BEEN WITH

Let’s hope we have some jump action this weekend.

Quick Update

January 11th, 2010 -

Hope you’re settling into the new year well and getting back in to the old routines. Nothing to report here at BetterTipster as we have only had one small bet since last post; it was only 1 point which considering that our average is probably around 4 shows you our apprehension when it comes to betting in these extreme weather conditions. The cold snap does look like giving up towards the back end of this week. Hopefully we will be back in action shortly.

Big Bucks makes us Big Bucks!

December 30th, 2009 -

I hope you have all had a great Christmas and enjoyed the small break.

After two weeks with no real betting opportunities we finally sprung back in to life over the past couple of days. We have had five bets in total since Boxing Day and have collected with three of them. The two that lost though were both a little bit unlucky. One horse was backed from an advised 13/8 into 10/11 SP; a huge gamble, unfortunately the horse only managed to finish 2nd beaten by a length. The horse ran green and lost ground on the bend before flying home. Another couple of strides and I am sure it would have won. We had a small E/W bet on Imperial Commander but his chances went after the 2nd fence when making a terrible error.

The profits still came in after we had a strong notebook winner that bolted up. Long Run, the highly promising French recruit for Nicky Henderson, won with any amount in hand at 6/4. This horse looks like it will go to the very top. In addition to this we had a near max bet today on Big Bucks.

It’s very rare that we ever back odds on shots on this service, but sometimes they do represent value. Today was one of those days and the opportunity arose in the form of Big Bucks. I had the price around 1/3 and so did our form guy so the freely available price of 1/2 was well worth taking. Plenty had been made of Diamond Harry’s chances but let’s not forget that Big Bucks is already a world hurdle winner whilst Diamond Harry was a novice last year. The result was never in doubt with Big Bucks coming clear at the finish.

I had one of my largest ever bets on Big Bucks which was £1400 win (see below screen shot).

It was great to see the race ran at Newbury and thanks must also go to Racing UK for showing all the action free today on sky, and also a mention is due for Leopardstown racecourse who got the Lexus ran today despite the fog that came down yesterday.

Just for good measure members are always given thoughts of the big race of the day even if we are not betting in it. The horse What A Friend was passed on as the most likely winner and the horse that finished 2nd, Money Trix, is one of our notebook horses. First and Second place, not bad tipping!

Merry Christmas to all!

December 23rd, 2009 -

Just a short message to wish you and your family a very happy Christmas. I hope Santa brings everything you wish for and a great time is had by all.

Thank you for reading our blog, website and also for your continued support.

Have a great Christmas

Cold Snap (& Haydock…… “DOH!”).

December 21st, 2009 -

The quiet times at BetterTipster continue with no bets due to poor racing and the loss of major meetings.

My worst fears came true on Friday with the loss of Ascot. I was really looking forward to the meeting as we had a big bet lined.  I hope Boxing Day is not going to be a wipe out. It’s always a great day with over ten meetings. I was pleased to see Kempton with the covers down for boxing day as it just won’t be the same without the King George.

Haydock really did it’s self no favours again with the meeting on at 8am, then thirty minutes before the first race the meeting gets called off. Surely if there was any danger of the meeting not going ahead the fixture should be called off the day before! Don’t forget that this is the course that over watered earlier in the year and a certain high profile trainer refuses to run his horses at the track. Far too much time and money is wasted on travel and fuel for both the trainers and general public!

Did you see the comment from trainer James Ewart? If not see below:

He said: “It was -8C in the stable block last night and the clerk of the course said it didn’t go below -4, which sadly wasn’t true. How can they inspect at 8am when they don’t pull the covers up. It’s a lack of respect for horses and people working in racing. Haydock doesn’t mind – they’ll have another meeting, but it’s absolutely ridiculous – there was no chance.”

Sums it all up really; me thinks that Haydock needs to get it’s act together.

With no official betting tips a positive was given today for Newcastle to beat Middlesbrough @ 4/5. This price seemed for too good and I had considered it to be 4/6 or shorter. You can see in the below screen shot that we took advantage of our keen eye for percentages for a green-book of £175.65. It’s always nice to have a live game on normal TV Sunday lunch time.

Update 17/12

December 17th, 2009 -

There have been no updates of late as it has been a quiet time at BetterTipster HQ. The racing has been poor during the week and we didn’t even have a bet last weekend as the ground was just too heavy and racing very trappy.

Today we played for the first time with two small bets both of which were to minimum stakes. The result was one winner and a profit for clients just to keep things turning over.

As the horse racing has been fairly quiet, clients were informed to take a look at Aston Villa last week at 7/1. They were playing Man United, but the 7/1 price was just silly. As we all know Villa to the lead with a goal and that’s they was the score line stayed. This is the first time we have advised on a football bet and not something which comes as standard (every little helps).

This weekend we have the big clash between Big Bucks and Diamond Harry should be a great race. Let’s hope the weather forecast does not hit so hard as snow and heavy frost is forecast almost everywhere from Thursday.

We had an Ante-post bet last week for Cheltenham. The price available price when tipped was 20/1. The next day news broke in the racingpost of what we heard the previous night and the price tumbled into12/1. This has now become a fantastic trading opportunity for members. Let’s see how it goes.

Until next time, Be lucky.

P.S Last thing, Monday could be a interesting day. I’ll say no more.
